How we rated the Irons

|

AdrianAdrian: Saved a penalty at crucial stage and made two or three remarkable saves. Outstanding 8

Antonio: This fella just gets better and better – another day, another goal, another amazing performance 8

Oxford: Spun and turned for first goal by Lukaku but the kid’s on a huge learning curve. Made way for Carroll 6

Ogbonna: Another top performance often under a lot of pressure from their front runners 7

Cresswell: Great forward movement and always trying to make things happen 8

Obiang: Not one of his best games – lost the ball at times but nothing disastrous 6

Noble: Another ‘lead-from-the-front’ display setting up Antonio for the first with great cross. Good stuff  7

Kouyate: Typifies the spirit of this great side. Never knows when he’s beaten 7

Lanzini: In and out of the action – a mixed bag but this boy has real talent 6

Payet: A goal, an assist and always a danger – coming back to his best 8

Emenike: Works hard but should have had a goal and we await a real impact from him 6

Subs:

Song: Unlucky to give away a pen as the foul was outside. Always looking to play the simple pass 6

Carroll: Once again worked hard. Difficult to understand how Emenike is preferred as starter 6

Sakho: Still coming up to speed but a goal and lots of good movement 7

I guess the only reason Carroll didn’t start in stead of Emminike is fitness. I hope that one of him or Sakho is fit to start next week. Either is more than capable of causing trouble v Man United.

Agreed with all except Lanzini. He deserves a 7. He links up the play so well and gets through a lot of work off the ball creating space for others. Great team performance.

Emenike was isolated for large parts of the first half, thought he did fine though.Only luck/good save depending how you look at it from the keeper stopped him from scoring.Great run to be there for the cross.Seems when Carroll doesn’t start Emenike always takes flak.He was a pest for the Spurs defenders as well.

Sakho must start next week,he will bring the best out of Payet and Lanzini,he proved today with his goal and assist that he is missed,
Emineke has done nothing wrong but we need a goal scorer and Sakho fills that bill,
Carroll works hard but does not fit in our style any more,
    1st choice must be Sakho
Great result today can’t believe we came back and won, watched with 25 Real fans in a bar as their team scored 7 but they loved the games more at Everton,
Can’t believe Slav keeps getting the results they must hate Adrien
We now can go to Manchester with no fear,
Hope Reece does not react badly to being subbed but can understand Slav going for the win

Adrian was my MOTM. Saved the pen and then another great save. Not for him we could have been 4-0 down.

Also our 11 year Goodison Jinx continues. Our last 5 wins up there have been as follows….

    1972, 1983, 1994, 2005, 2016.

    Here’s to 2027. 😀

Noble is winning me over every game,he has got that BFS mentality out his game is comfortable around Payet and Lanzini and every game now he is shooting from distance which he never did under Hippo,
Always had a great heart now he is leading and was correct as captain to complain about the tackle that led to the red card,
One more big game now before we can have another look at where we are this season
