CandH’s Niall McDonald hands out the marks

Adrian: One flying save for the photographers in the second half. Otherwise a relatively comfortably afternoon 6
Zabaleta: The more advanced of the two wing-backs for most of the game 6
Ogbonna: Angelo high-fiving Collins after catching Wilson offside summed up the Moyes defensive regime nicely 7
Collins: Seemed solely focused on preventing Wilson scoring with his hand, head or any other part of his body 7
Cresswell: Defended well, started to get forward more after the break. Limped off late apparently with severe cramp 6
Obiang: Not one of his best passing performances today 4
Kouyate: Made several driving runs down the right 6
Noble: Lots of running and harrying and tackling. Just about kept up with the game 5
Lanzini: Looked to be feeling the effects of 120 mins against Shrewsbury. Hopefully the injury is not serious 6
Masuaku: Bournemouth played Smith wide right which limited Arthur’s attacking chances. Did find more space after the break 6
Arnautovic: Led the line admirably. At times his touch and awareness seemed a little too far ahead of his teammates 7

Subs
Hernandez: Sombreros aloft for a vital (and rare) poacher’s finish 7
Rice: Wasn’t on for long but was at it straight away. Couple of important interceptions 6
Byram: Few minutes of stoppage time wide right  no rating

Have to disagree. Byram was on as long as Rice and he was very good. As for Zab he was my man of the match and deserving 8. How long did you spend in the bar???

just wondering are you ever going to get off mark nobles back you and a lot of others on this site do nothing but slag him off there is one thing for sure the team play a lot better when he is in the side than when he is not he does not always play well but every team needs a catalyst and at the moment he is ours

I’m with with u Matty he’s been solid the last 4\5 games and the team does seem to play better with him in it ..nothing fancy but the work on and off the field goes unnoticed ..sometimes its not about the game sometimes teams just gel with certain players ..I.e Leicester prime example winning the prem with players that were awful in other teams …it just worked ..

Pretty fair summary overall but agree a bit harsh on Noble (and Obiang). What this game really showed was how thin the squad is, particularly midfield. We are having to play the same three in the middle all the time, they are all game but limited, and our subs options are almost non-existent. Some really good football first 30 minutes, should have gone ahead, but we looked knackered by the end and hanging on a bit. Lanzini and Cresswell got injuries, so we are a bit “bare bones” – really need to invest in 3 or 4 solid players this month. Maybe we could even have a go at the Cup then!

Niall why don’t you just not put a rating in for obiang ever, just obvious you don’t like the guy and makes you look totally stupid. IMO was the best the team has played in the first half hour his season as a team. Lanzini looks to be really enjoying his role now. Notes is better ahead of obiang an kouyate as pointed out his speed over the first 6 to ten metres just isn’t there so gets really caught out but this position allows him to do what he does best control the ball and passing, obiang just does the dirty stuff breaking plays up not pretty but if you understand the game you would realise his importance. I didn’t think any player today deserved less than a 6. Kouyate won loads in air an made some good lung bursting fun’s down the wing as well. As a fan for plus 40 years would much prefer to watch us play like this pressing and going at teams that sitting back the whole game soaking up pressure hoping to get a goal from a break away. Especially against teams that our players can totally out play if they are sent out to do that

  • JB says:

Think 6 is generous for Kouyate. Seems to have completely lost it this season. Lots of running but seems to have half the strength and confidence he had when he first joined. Also think Noble deserves more, the only player to consistently show for the ball.
But hey, all just opinions, well done for taking the time out to post.
And agree with above – norfolkhammer – bang out of order

  • Clive says:

Noble was voted man of the match at the stadium. I didnt agree but even so i admit that he was at least as good as anyone else against Bounemouth. I agree we have been a better team with Noble playing than when he was on the bench. He has raised his game since Moyshie took over but then so have they all.

  • Willtell says:

Your marking of our players is dodgy in the extreme. Noble and Obiang were two of best players with only Zabaleta and Lanzini comparing on the day! All of the players lacked a bit of organisation so apply a bit of logic to the process or don’t bother please!
