Niall McDonald hands out the marks

Adrian: Saved everything comfortably before Son let fly 7
Zabaleta: Magnificent last ditch tackle on Kane the highlight 6
Reid: Looked a bit laboured. Got away with more than one slip or lunge 6
Ogbonna: Best defender for me. Handled Kane and Alli very well 8
Rice: Calm and assured throughout. Put in a real shift, battling cramp for last 10 mins 7
Masuaku: First dribble in the 85th minute, pretty restrained display 7
Obiang: Not sure I can remember being so amazed by a goal! A quite brilliant strike 8
Noble: Customary London derby booking in the 89th minute. May have done more to block Son’s strike? 6
Kouyate: Contributed his share of clearances and tackles. Got forward more in second half 6
Lanzini: Double shift defending and main creative outlet. Fouled before the equalizer in my view 6
Hernandez: First Hammer to enter the Spurs penalty area on 23 mins and that was about as good as it got for him 4

Subs
Ayew: Looked enthusiastic and arrived just as we started to show some attacking intent 5
Carroll: Booked for a time wasting kick away upon his arrival. One awful air shot on the edge of our box. Ended up in the middle of a back six 4

I think the scores for Rice, Zaba, Hernandez and even Kouyate are too low, Kouyate won nearly every aerial challenge he is at least a 7 maybe an 8, Rice was magnificent he was the coolest player o the field he was only caught out of position once and then he got back to block the ball out for a corner, Zaba did everything that could be expected of him the trouble he has is that Reid pays absolutely zero attention to Zaba’s movement there was a gaping hole time and again where Reid should have been drifting across to block the space we were very lucky it wasn’t exploited for me Zaba is an 8, as for Hernandez he needed to be subbed when he was but he made so many runs into the gulf of space behind the tottenham defence that were mostly camped on our half way line and only once was the ball released it was an easy pass on all the occaision just hit it aerial to land about midway between the halfway line and the 18 yard box, our passing was generally poor, hopefully Moyes and the team will sort that out because we have to work harder on the transition from defence to attack set up some triangles or just put the ball into space for our quicker players to run into. I would give Hernandez a 6 for effort, likewise Ayew.

Chek won every ariel challenge number 32? What about the Fekkin sitter of a header from two yards out when we were 1-0 up? Would have secured three points but he made a complete balls of it! I’d give him a 4. Chic wasn’t great either, made Ayew look good when he came on. Reid a little dodgy at times but Rice, Ogbonna and Obiang were all different class – Outstanding performances from all three.

He should have scored the header admitted Jimbo but he still won everything in the air he was our out ball until Carroll came on and did a great job of it, personally I thought it was a big improvement from him on recent games, Hernandez is being starved of chances and you could see him getting more and more frustrated, looked like Moyes read him the riot act just before subbing him because of his complaining about what he said was an elbow to the face, didn’t look that bad from the stands and I don’t think Moyes thought there was much in it afterwards. Hernandez isn’t a lone striker and if we are just going to sit deep and absorb pressure he is being wasted. When we have chances we have to put the ball through to him we didn’t, with the ball we were generally very poor without the ball we were excellent.

Reid worries me. Maybe not fully fit, but decision making is shaky. If we only had a 24 year old Rice.

Adrian good shot stopping but (like most goalies) gets found out by high balls. Could have given away penalty clattering Ali second half when going for a cross.

Didn’t Pedro score one a bit like that one last season?

Really pleased with Christmas period. Forget Newcastle. Bear in mind we really beat BMouth. Next 6 weeks is make or break. A lot of winnable/ drawable games. But the sort we have been losing. Owners- you MUST strengthen & do it for THESE GAMES!!! If you leave it until end of Jan it will take new players a few weeks to settle & we could be doomed by then. A lot of good sides to play in last 3 months & what we have done vs Chelsea Arsenal & Spuds is not likely to be repeated. Please do something right for once & get these players in NOW. Listen to your ****** family for once if you won’t listen to us!

Rice only a 7? Did you even watch the match? If he wasn’t a 9 you must be a Spuds fan. Watch the replay and adjust your player scoring please. 7 my foot.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

+1 Hammer580 Rice and Ogbonna were the standout players.

Agree Rice was mine MOTM then voted MOTM.
Started w 2 crucial clearances & finished w 2 crucial clearances & was brilliant thru out why waste chasing Mawson who is too expensive anyway when have Rice.
Barkley is going for £15m we need mids. Bid £15m for Wilshere be great add passing & creativity & I think Moyes could coach him better then Wenger.

Adrian & Rice need new contracts ASAP!
