Hugill loan deal agreed

|

Jordan Hugill is on his way from West Ham after opting to join Queens Park Rangers on loan.

The move was first touted last week although it was unclear which of two or three interested clubs he would be joining.

But this morning co owner of the Hammers David Gold announced on Twitter that the striker was on his across London.

He said: “The documentation has now been completed for the temporary transfer of Jordan Hugill to QPR until 30th June 2020. Good luck Jordan. dg”

Having joined the Hammers for £8 million under David Moyes, this will be Hugill’s second season-long loan spell after joining his home town club Middlesbrough which he had high hopes of joining permanently.

However, after managing seven goals in 41 appearances he returned to the London Stadium.

Rangers have agreed to pay 60 per cent of the striker’s £33k a week salary following negotiations following the striker’s decision not to join Wigan on a permanent deal.

They are understood to have beaten Leeds for his signature with reportedly West Brom showing some interest.

Hugill is contracted to West Ham until June 2022.

Should have sold him , he is never getting in out team !

Irrespective of his quality the fact remains we have let another striker go and now have Haller and Chicho.Surely the club has to get another striker in as we have very little as way of backup.

With hindsight we all agree that buying Hugill was a mistake – but to put it in perspective Man Utd bought Alexis Sanchez and cant sell him

Agreed, Zahama. If deals were structured with far lower basic wages and higher performance based bonuses, it might be easier to move underperforming players on – they’d want to go to improve their chances of bonuses. In the case of Hugill, he’s unlikely to get a shot at the first team with us, so would almost certainly want to go elsewhere to improve his lot, but on £33k per week, what incentive is there for him to leave?

I appreciate that everyone would have to structure deals this way in order to make it easier for everyone…
