West Ham-supporting former Leicester City star Muzzy Izzet can’t call tomorrow night’s Capital One clash between the Irons and Foxes declaring: “No result would surprise me but it could be a classic”
The Bethnal Green-born former midfield ace was a regular at Upton Park “from knee high to a grasshopper to about 15” when he was signed up by Chelsea having got through our net.
He said: “We moved to Canning Town when I was ten but I remained a regular at the Boleyn – very happy days and still my team.”
Having moved on the Leicester he then joined David Sullivan and David Gold at Birmingham City where his career was ended via a cruel knee injury.
He’ll be inside the Foxes stadium for a match tomorrow night which he believes is as enthralling as it gets declaring: “I’d reckon Ranieri will rest a few whilst perhaps the Irons will stick more closely to their strongest team.
“I think maybe Andy Carroll will come in and that could cause a different problem for Leicester. Both teams are so similar in the way they play but I wasn’t entirely convinced by Leicester when I watched them against Villa a fortnight back.
“Then they came from behind at the weekend against Stoke which is wearing so expect changes.
“Maybe the biggest danger for the Hammers is that they are coming off a terrific result at the weekend and the wins against Arsenal and Liverpool may put them under a bit more pressure.
“Both teams will see the Premier League as the priority this season so it’s going to depend which of them takes the game the most seriously.
“Everyone knows I’m a big Hammer but I’ll go for a draw and penalties because – after all – I do have to live in Leicester.”
