Irons make Song future clear

|

SongsWest Ham are likely to seal a deal with Alex Song at the end of the transfer window rather than wait until next January to sign the midfielder.

Song is currently recovering from an  operation and should be fit to return by end of October the latest although the club is careful to claim that it could be before that declaring: “We are talking UP to three months.”

The player has had surgery to sort out the problems caused by a floating bone in his ankle.

And although the Irons negotiators have spoken to agents about the possibility of signing  out of contract former Leicester City midfielder Esteban Cambiasso on a short term deal as cover, it’s now more likely that a Song swoop will take place at the end of this window.

Barcelona want the 27 year old off the wage bill and are ready to allow the player a free transfer but the Hammers want him to sign a one year deal so they can take a good look at his fitness over next season.

ClaretandHugh was told exclusively: “Obviously Alex would prefer a three year deal but a a year will be offered with clauses giving him the opportunity to sign for another two years when he has proved himself fully recovered and that we remain as a Premier League force.

“The club has no doubt that will be the case but when you are signing contracts you have to cover all the bases. He will almost certainly be available by the end of October so we wouldn’t want to lose November and December”

That sounds like a shrewd deal for both party’s

  • bubs says:

Sound like a sensible deal for us and Song, would still like to see Cambiasso come for one year as well he is class then our midfield requirements woul be compleat and any money could be spent on a forward and we can clear out,Nolan,Jarvis,Magia, and even Zarate and Noble and raise a little more money for a really good goal scorer
But that’s probably a pipe dream, and I am happy with what we have already,
Tried to give time for the brain before starting my opinion

Lol,dont do that bubs, you will lose your cutting edge wise words if you think too long & try to be too well behaved 😀

  • westhammer says:

    Yes please…bring him on.

  • JagerChugger says:

Seems as good a place to say this than anywhere else but LAY OFF NOBES!

Why do a lot of us fans on various forums seem to want to see Noble moved on? He’ll run through walls and spill his own blood to make sure West Ham do well. Plus with most of the new additions not having premier league experience, he has a massive part to play in both near and far term successes. We also still need to replace Downing for the reason of losing his prem league experience.

So if people dont rate Nobes they have to say he is a fantastic player just to ‘play the game’,because he is ‘one of our own’.Last time i heard freedom of speech was allowed in Britain.I rate him to but i am not delusional enough to not consider the fact that he may not be a regular starter.Yes he will spill blood for us but that isnt enough in the premier league im afraid.

      • JagerChugger says:

Ha whoa there, I’m not telling people that they cant say this or that re Nobes, just saying give the man a break.

When the chips are down he’s always put a shift in when others around him may tail off a bit. His experience in the prem invaluable. I would only consider offers if the new lads edge him out of the squad week in week out which if they’re good enough will happen.

Anyho, really hope we don’t miss out on Song. I think after last season his fitness will be much better in the long run this season, so will definitely improve on his performances last season 🙂

Love him back.I have been supporting the irons longer than i care to admit & have seen some fantastic players, but Song pre-christmas was majestic at times.Pretty sure his injuries hampered him after christmas & a clear indifference to what Allardyce was up to with his amazing ‘possession-free’ tactics, lol

  • scotty71 says:

Love it get him signed up,he looked class above in some games, the floating bone did’nt help im guessing in others?as for noble, crap does’nt cover it,can’t take free kicks or corners ever again(he still will though)does’nt weigh in with enough goals except pens which he now looks shakey on,too slow and does’nt play defence splitting passes unless you count’floaters’ apart from that he’s tip top!just because he was born round the corner should’nt guarantee you a starting berth.Lets all admit he’s out of his depth now.

    • JagerChugger says:

I wouldn’t say Nobes is crap, he’s got a terrific work ethic and distributes the ball well. Yes he is slow and he’s never been a flair enough to split the defence on a regular basis but he’s got grit which we’ll need this season. With all the changes going on we and players coming in who have never played in the prem I’m not sure selling him would be a good move. If the others in the squad are better than him than I believe that will show in Bilic’s team selections throughout the season and won’t be surprised to see him on the bench sometimes this season.

  • firefigterx says:

Is it just me!! but arn’t we now well loaded with midfeilder’s ? why are we still looking in that area when we really need a quality striker to back up Sako and Valencia..

  • scotty71 says:

Yeah he is gritty and tenacious but mainly in the derby games, maybe not sell him but he can’t be guaranteed a place like before and i don’t think he will.I think sullivans got something up his sleeve as regards a striker, lets hope he surprises us all.

  • scotty71 says:

    heskys available apparently.

  • bubs says:

The problem JagerChugger is where is he going to get in the team, yes he run through walls but we need someone who can tackle, pass the ball to our team,he has no turn of speed he is not a great header of the ball,he can’t keep his temper,
Kouate,Obiang,Poyet,Payet,Alfitano, are better players The young Viking, the young Argie
Cullen and Oxford are the future and can do as good a job if not better than Noble
Saying that I like Noble but he is worth £5 million and I would sooner buy a young lad from Barcelona for less
Just thinking forward but you keep Noble and Nolan and Carroll and Magia because they can also walk through walls ( sentiment plays no part in business ) and the 2 Daves have always said this is a business
    Sorry mate hard facts

  • Rarney Bubble says:

Except Obiang and Payet are unproven in the prem and Poyet and Amalfitano are not only not better but quite simply not as good as Noble.

I’m all in favour of clearing out some dead wood and personally think the likes of Nolan, Jarvis, O Brien and Maiga etc should be on their way, but for me Noble is not even in the frame re the exit door.
