West Ham may be ready to step in and run the London Stadium should E20 go bust as is currently widely expected.
After returning massive losses and dipping into the public purse for prop up loans it is now conceivable that the LLDC- organised E20 could go bust following publication of its latest accounts.
And should that be the case CandH has learned that the Hammers could be ready – depending on legal advice – to step in as the stadium operators.
The club has already been told by a top QC that there is no way they can be kicked out of the Stadium unless the British government itself were to go bust!
His report to the club made it clear that the club’s lease says the stadium ultimately has to be owned by a UK government entity and as long as it remains solvent the club is secure.
Should the Irons go ahead with a proposition to become stadium operators it will put the pressure back on Sadiq Khan whose talks with the club over recent months has been confined to one brief conversation with vice chairman Karren Brady as the LLDC became involved in an expert determination us which it lost.
And it has also taken down the club’s honours list at the stadium and is refusing to replace it until we pay – which West Ham claim is not in the terms of tenancy.
E20 are also not allowing us to change the carpet surround to be claret with the Hammers having since released to outraged statements from the vice chairman who has more than hinted at possible legal action.
A club insider told us this morning: “We are taking the very best legal opinion from top counsel and if E20 go bust we could possibly step in and run the stadium.”
If West Ham were to become the stadium operators as suggested, does that mean we’d be able to use it for more than the 25 days as currently contracted, and would we be able to sub-let it for concerts, etc?
Yes presumably mate but we are stil some way away – let’s see what E20 does which will give aus a guide to Khan’s thinking lomg term possibly

It would make a good challenge for the candidates of the apprentice tv show wouldn’t it. It would be an interesting episode that. How to make the London stadium profitable. I’m sure Karen Brady would have a few ideas.
