Irons squad on a “bender?”…don’t believe it!

Piture from the Sun shows the players during their night outi

I may have got this wrong but I’d be very surprised if that were the case.

This morning as you open a tabloid newspaper you will see pictures of the West Ham squad out partying “until the small hours” the night after the defeat last weekend.

The captain was there along with the likes of James Collins, new signing Álvaro Arbeloa, Aaron Cresswell and many other of the unusual suspects.

Lurid headlines declare they were on on a “bender”.

Clearly somebody believes there’s a wholesale mutiny going on among the players to have been involved in such a planned operation against manager Slaven Bilic and the club.

Let me keep this short. I simply don’t buy it until it’s proved otherwise – an event which I don’t expect.

And may I politely remind those who have made such a splash out of this that  the words “bender” and “bonding” are not mutually exclusve. It is quire reasonable to go out socially without getting bladdered!

I believe the sequence of events is pretty straightforward. The manager had spent a clear the air evening with the lads over a meal where presumably they were told to enjoy a night out which they did as the bonding gets underway.

That’s what I believe  happened…that’s what I hope  happened and until we learn anything to the contrary that’s what I’m going to go on believing happened!

Oh, and apart from a water being held by Cressie, there’s not a bottle to be seen anywhere or a player looking anything like his normal self.

No one is miss behaving,no big grins laughing at the fans,
They are together, not out as individuals spending there large wages,
No one taking a bung even if some are playing like they have taken one,
Don’t see the problem are they supposed to stop eating, drinking, living until they win,
No evidence that there is a problem with the manager as thy have all been given a chance to play and impress,
Maybe the papers should be concentrating on Managers that take bungs not ones that are trying everything to find a team among his squad that goes out and works hard to turn things around,

if this is true they dont give a **** and i would say slav lost the dressing room it is hard to see how anyone would turn on such a nice guy but it had happened before and we all know how it will end

  • robbiem says:

You can’t always believe the press but as reported yesterday it was just Carroll and Randolph. I guess it doesn’t matter too much re Carroll as he’ll probably be out until after Christmas and Randolph is currently second choice but needs to be ready to step in.

    • baddowhammer says:

Carroll’s due back at the back end of October, and Randolph could start next game, robbiem. But don’t believe that those two would do that.COYI

But according to the daily mail the lads were on a bit of a bender led by carroll and Randolph. Perhaps we should check with the daily telegraph or a source close to the club to see if it’s true. Or we could always ring the restaurant where the alleged bender took place to see if they know anything.

  • slaven a laugh says:

Ah no my mistake sorry They said it was a team bonding exercise. Not a bender after all. Ha ha.

News papers and the media in general are just a bunch of parasitic trouble makers . Best ignore Thier drivel and believe what it was ; a night out in an attempt to sort out the terrible performances on the pitch .

  • slaven a laugh says:

You’re absolutely right Kevin. Good to see actually. I’m only ever tongue in cheek. A lot worse happened back in the day. Ever heard of ‘the Blackpool incident’ ?

  • firefigterx says:

Agree with all that’s been said Hugh ! But Even so it is worrying..INNOCENT till proven..
BUT if it is True we are really in a bad place as a club.. Though look at the pic as you said!
The whole 1st team squad suggests Innocence… COYI Hope the bonding worked.

  • firefigterx says:

OH by the way !! where is the Infamous Mr Keys ?? No comment on his big pals Sacking lol

  • Michael Miller says:

It appears that the night out was on Monday night but yesterday morning there started to come out photos of Randolph and Carroll at a pub in Borough Market that opens early (at 6 am) and then later on there came reports of Carroll and Randolph being at a pizza place around Old Street where Randolph got a bit lary and got chucked out.

On the face of it this is unbelievable, these players in particular are showing a total disrespect for the Club, the Manager and the fans – what can they be thinking of, it’s beyond me!

Who cares! As Nobes said, it can’t get any worse on the field. Maybe it’s just what they needed.
