It’s a Nortveidt nightmare

|

havardnordtveitYou do absolutely everything right and one person ruins it all.

Sorry but it has to be said: Havard Nortveidt was entirely responsible for a defeat which was as hard to take as anything I’ve known in a lifetime of watching the Hammers.

The home side only got behind us twice such was the auality of our defending but when Son Heung-min managed it Harry Kane capitalised big time to plunge us to the horrible defeat we didn’t deserve.

Nortveidt  – on for Dimi Payet to shore up a 2-1 lead went to ground – caught Son’s boot as the Tottenham forward changed direction and Kane finished us off from the spot.

Until then we had produced as near perfect a performance as you could want but one poor challenge from a poor player ensured that all the hard work of the previous 80 odd mins counted for nothing and the anxieties and worries grow and grow.

Once again the summer signings have cost us. Nortveidt isn’t good enough like Tore, Feghouli Calleri, Zaza – the list goes on.

There were so many plusses …the brilliant Lanzini, the non stop Antonio, the outstanding Reid – who wrecked his afternoon with two yellows and a sending off being totally ignored by the manager as he walked down the tunnel.

All over the pitch there were great perormances although Diafra Sakho looked predictably ring rusty. They all put in a magnificent shift with the exception f the late sub with even Zaza showing little glimpses of what he might have been.

There was so much to enjoy for 85 minutes; great defending and bright inventive stuff going forward. The disappointment is still far to sharp to analyse it any further but we showed at our best we are a quality side.

The huge worry is that not one of those outsde our best 11 are truly up to it and January is beginning to look really important.

Said it elsewhere on here – I never want to see him in a West Ham shirt again… he can join the list of “rejects” we bought this summer! Taxi!

Gutted……. this summer has to be the worst transfer window for West Ham in living memory. How can we go from Payet/Lanzini in one summer to the terrible buys this year? Not one has contributed anything. Send them all back.

Fernandes will be a player and Ayew may prove to be. Otherwise the summer signings have been a horror show.

      • razor says:

Like rik stated fernandes and maybe ayew only best buys. Remembering though other than the worst player in a west ham shirt stated by someone nord that is dreadful player no wonder arsenal outed him. All the bed buys are on loans so no real damage as we send th all back and start again only really needing two strikers and a full back if honest. Imo

Absolutely gutted. But no surprise because if you persist in kicking the ball to the opposition then the chances are this is going to happen. I’m sure Payet has had enough and it will be a big surprise if he stays. I agree that the summer signings are very poor and yet Bilic persists in given them a chance. I could not believe Zaza was a substitute. I fear that relegation looms and Bilic has to take responsibility.

Mistakes made yes but relegation your really having a giraffe I hope. Luck turns and the side is buzzing just needs more and others sent back asp. Imo

Maybe we need to have a look at the Championship and uncover some jems like Antonio and Cresswell. Easier said than done I know…….

I Have also said it earlier here tonight Apart from Fernandes the summer signings have been the worst batch of players I can remember for a long time at the club.Ayew will come good but the rest have undermined the squad to the degree that with just over a month to Christmas we are already in relegation trouble. What a difference a year makes. Its time for a bargain basement clearout in the January sales and get back to last years squad with a couple of quality buys in Jan.

A big disappointment . So much better without Noble clogging up midfield .If Bilic is to survive he must ditch him and continue with todays team . Nortvietd and Zaza.??????? They are useless . Bilic is to blame for result . Bringing on these 2 clowns was suicide . Reid was sent of for comments to ref not the foul ? if this is true he should be fined the max by the club . We need him badly and he let us down. As long as Noble does not come straight back I think we might get a result from one of the next few games . If he returns we will be bottom at Xmas.

    • Maravilla says:

Totally agree Bubbles, Bilic unfortunately has fallen for the Mr West Ham tag with Noble and it’s cost us big time….The board also need to fair share of the blame as our bench is nowhere near the level we had last season. I like Bilic but if Noble walks back into that team then he’s a dead man walking in my book

  • Carrerageorge says:

Randolph made a great save but for their first two tipped the ball weakly to where a Spud picked it up, the same thing that Adrian was caned for with the first Everton goal.
