Young Hammer’s time is NOW!

|

It’s Mubuma time !

What have Sebastien Haller, Mauro Zarate, Javier Hernandez, Simone Zaza, Enner Valencia and Marco Arnautovic and now Gianluca Scamacca all got in common?

Correct !

They are all examples of our inability. inept, flawed, cursed. (delete as appropriate) examples of West Ham‘s transfer record when it comes to strikers.

In fact , if we are brutally honest the only player that comes out of all this with any smidgeon of glory ,is probably our possibly soon to depart Michail Antonio.

It’s incredibly hard to understand our catastrophic record in buying frontmen and down the years it has beciome an embarrassment which is difficult to remove?

However, this season may at last show that an answer has emerged and that it is from within our own academy.

We have said this many times but come on Moysie ot’s time to give Divin Mubama his chance in the first team.

I’m generally not a negative person but supporting WHU can test anyone’s positively to the limit. I agree whole heartedly that Mubama’s time has come but I fear that it won’t be long before we read an article stating “Mubama signs season long loan with Lincoln City FC”

out of the 50 examples you could have used, Marco Arnautovic isnt one of them.

Arnautovic was actually a quality striker for us, his brother was the failure with the constant hawking of him to get better money elsewhere, with the others many weren’t terrible and some did well elsewhere, Haller and Valencia anyway. What is a failure (imho) is our inability to find a manager that could play modern football aggressively enough to support a passing game and system in which those strikers were fed regular opportunities.

Simon, In the case of most of the players named in your short list it was the inability of the coaching staff to utilise them appropriately. Chicharito was always a superb finisher, Arnautovic worked well in our team’s style, especially after his switch to a striking role. Haller and Scamacca were and still are very good players who did well before they arrived. Haller has been great since he left and I’d put money on Scamacca being a success in Italy, if he leaves.
