Former Chelsea and Spurs player Jason Cundy turned talk radio shock jock has launched a brutal attack on West Ham’s owners.
Speaking on Talk Sport programme Sports Bar on Tuesday night Cundy said: “It’s a mess at West Ham, it’s an absolute mess, and this isn’t just something that’s happened in the last six months, it’s happened since they moved to the new stadium. The decline has been slow, gradual, and the two Davids – they are the ones that have got West Ham into this mess.
“They’ve gone from a brilliant old stadium, and I understand football has got to evolve and move on and they couldn’t stay there, but could they have rebuilt it, could they have extended it? Possibly.
“But they’ve now moved into this new stadium – it’s tacky and cheap. That’s what West Ham have turned into, and that is not West Ham Football Club, they are not that, but they have turned into it.”

Cundy is no fan of the West Ham board and never has been, the recent results and situation brings out the haters and those with an agenda. We moved to the new stadium four years ago and there is no going back, it was an opportunity too good to turn down at the time and if we had won the majority of games at the London Stadium Cundy and others wouldn’t be mentioning it.
West Ham have invested over £209m in players but it hasn’t worked out, football is sometimes like that and West Ham is not alone but everyone has to take their share of the blame from the board down to managers and players, it is a collective failure.
The one thing that is tacky and cheap is Cundy’s comments!
But he’s correct.
Thoughts on the stadium aside. Yes it is completely gold and sullivans fault we are in this mess. They run the club so the buck ultimately has to stop with them.
His comments are 100% true

That is how the rest of the football world generally perceive us. I’ve watched us under their stewardship go from what was a well respected and generally well liked club to one that is now seen as classless, cheap and tacky as he says. The principal architect of this in my view has been Karren Brady but Gold and Sullivan have let it happen.

Have to agree with all of Cundy’s comments. What he fails to mention, though, is that under GSB, West Ham have become a club that the fans of other teams openly dislike. That’s because of the stadium move, and the perceived unfairness of it. So, in my view, Cundy’s understating the things.
Your comments here just show the same thing you said you wouldn’t do, just blatantly stick up for the board. No. Football isn’t “just like that sometimes”. Our board have constantly proven they have no idea how to build the structure of a football club. The idea that you bring in a coach with pedigree and his longtime co-worker and friend as DoF makes no sense. They should have hired a DoF they vetted and have him find coaches he believes would be a good fit for his plan moving forward. And each candidate needed a view of how they would move the club forward. That is the point of a DoF. When the managers change, the DoF should stay the same. Why? Because they are the ones laying the foundation for the future of the club. So, when we fired Pelle we also fired our entire scouting staff and DoF. It made no f**king sense. I’ve worked in football, only for a few years, but I would be better at putting together a plan to run a club than those three morons. And yes, name calling is appropriate at this point but I am mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.
I’m so glad you popped in. I know its always easy to agree with those who say what you want them to and of course the necessity to swear shows your passion I suppose. The difference between you and me is that I support the club regardless which includes the ownership until there’s another and i wonder what would have happened had they resigned as you and others wish given Covid. Where exactly would the club be now?. They have made many mistakes and i will not deny it. The club needs restructuring from top to bottom as you suggest but in the absence of a buyer, constant moaning seems a little pointless . There has not been a buyer, there is not a buyer and in current circumstances unlikely to be so just what is your solution exactly. As for Cundy? Just another ex never was nicking a few quid to pander to a particular part of the Irons support. There needs to be a little more rationale than that i think. Don’t you? Hugh, what exactly are you buying with West Ham?
They have sold the main assets.They don’t own their ground, they have mortgage the training ground, sitting on 80m plus of debt because they have only loaned money at 4percent and the playing squad is a mess.
This was once a club that people would want to buy, but I couldn’t tell you what you would actually be buying now.
It’s a bit like when Ron Noads sold palace, then the new “owner” found he didn’t own anything.
I hear you. However, nobody wanted it at the Boleyn. If you can tell me otherwise happy to listen. Let’s assume they walk away – what happens then given the current circumstances. If we get new owners i’m totally cool with that but the fact is there’s no one out there, We are what we are and all the moaning and groaning is just …well moaning and groaning going nowhere. Personally have bigger concerns like seeing my kids again and like the rest of us learning to live again. I’m also very happy to discuss the whole thing with with people who can make their points without trading insults such as yourself. As much as he is an idiot, he us just telling the truth ..let’s be honest we have been a shambles for years now ..the board are so unprofessional it’s crazy …its been like it for a few seasons now so it’s not like they havnt had time …nothing against the 2 Dave’s but they dint have a clue, and until they go or take a back seat ,we will just keep sinking…its there for all to see so it’s not surprising ……its just getting worse every season
