Key academy man to join New York FC

|

A key member of the  Hammers youth set up is set to leave the club this month after being headhunted by New York City FC.

Under 23 manager Liam Manning, , who only took over as boss from Terry Westley at the start of a season that could easily see the team relegated with the drop now out of their hands, is ready to quit the Hammers for the MLS outfit.

It will come as a shock to the club and it is unclear who will replace Manning following an announcement of the move on FC New York’s official website.

He will become director of coaching for the club which is currently sitting ninth in the 12 team league with eight points from seven games.

It means he will take charge of his last under 23 game on the 27th of April against Everton with the team hoping to win with other results going their way to avoid them slipping out of Premier League 2 Division One.

So if under23s getting relegated seems good the coach has been headhunted 😉

Please hire a foreign coach that understand how to get the best out of youth players than our extremely limited British coaches.

Agree especially if we are going to keep goin for young Portuguese players. But BVB 2 always do it well.
The one downside to using more youth players & loans is the U23s suffer but at least they aren’t just bench filling like with Moyes.
That said we still have the players like Holland Dju Coventry Johnson Ingram Silva Lewis Pask we should be able to stay up.
But we have some good U18s. 16yo Kai Corbitt is scoring for fun in American Tournament has 4 in 4. We are in quarters. So we have some talent & scouring Portugal youth a lot we should be able to come back up again no problem.
So if Westley was going be a huge loss but not to worried about losing Manning.
We get the right manager in for U23s like they do in Germany they could replace MP later. You look at Farke, Hassenhuttl, Werder Bremen’s Florian Kohfeldt started with yourh done great with them only 36.
And having the youth set up as same as senior makes transistion easier.

Agree JRS or do what City do have the u23’s mimic the next opponents each week and play against the first team, this will give the u23’s exposure to lots of different football styles which should hopefully improve their knowledge and versatility.
