Klopp wary of Hammers new boy

|

Jurgen Klopp insists that Lucas Paqueta is a “great player” as Liverpool prepare to take on West Ham in midweek.

The Hammers are set to play the Reds at Anfield on Wednesday, with Liverpool coming into form over the past week.

The Reds thumped Rangers 7-1 last week, and also defeated Manchester City 1-0 on Sunday.

They are showing some signs of recovery after a poor start to the season and they go into the game against the Irons in eighth-place, having won three, drawn four, and lost two of their opening nine games.

And Klopp has accepted that they face a serious challenge against the Hammers later this week.

He has picked out Paqueta, who was signed from Lyon in the summer, as a real threat for the Irons, while he has also namedropped Thilo Kehrer, who used to ply his trade in the Bundesliga with Schalke prior to his move to PSG.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Klopp said, as per The Daily Mail: “When you have a start like ours you realise from now on they’re all finals. You can’t give this more importance, absolutely and we must respect them a lot.

“They caused us a lot of problems here in the past. David is doing an incredible job. They have quality players and options to change, Antonio played lots of games in the past and plays up front.

“Paqueta is a great player, Kehrer I know from Germany, makes it more difficult for us.”
