Lawrenson predicts Bees v Irons

|

Mark Lawrenson will be looking for a successful Hammers double this weekend after predicting  2-1 win over Everton last Sunday.

He’s giving the same scoreline at Brentford but is clearly expecting the Irons to have something of a battle on their hands after the shock win at Chelsea.

We will be looking to avoid the Bees scoring a double over us having beaten us 2-1 at the London Stadium last October.

Christian Eriksen was incredibly influential at Chelsea last weekend and David Moyes will have no oubt hatched a ;plan to keep him as quiet as possible,

Lawrenson describes the Bees win as  spectacular adding that  Eriksen has clearly made a massive difference to their whole team. His influence goes far beyond any goals or assists.

It’s a game which in normal times we would be expected to win but with Erikson involved and on the back of a confidence boosting win this one may be close.

Lawrenson says on his BBC website column: “I always thought the Bees would get out of trouble at the bottom of the table anyway, even when they were on that terrible run at the turn of the year, but signing a world-class midfielder in January has obviously helped.

West Ham have got two big games this week, home and away against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals. David Moyes does not have the biggest of squads, and I think Europe is his priority now.

Lawro’s prediction: 2-1
