Lawro’s back with a shock prediction

|

Shock …horror! Mark Lawrenson is backing the Hammers.

With the form figures appearing to show that the Irons are big underdogs against Wolves tomorrow evening (Sat) the BBC pundit has given us his vote for a surprise win.

But there’s a cheeky edge to his prediction as he claims that lack of fans inside the stadium could help the Hammers rather than hindere them.

The former Liverpool man reckons there’s very often a negative vibe around the place which affects the team’s form and that they could be better off playing in an empty stadium.

It’s a strange logic which will not go down to well with the fans but the man has never been an apologist for anybody or anything.

We hope he’s right about the result but it would be interesting to know how many games he has seen at the stadium before coming to such a conclusion.

Speaking on the BBC website at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53094387   he said: “There is often a negative vibe at London Stadium so it is possible that an absence of fans will not hurt West Ham’s chances as much as it might do to other sides.

Clearly Wolves have had a much better season but the Hammers are not a bad team on their day, and are better than their position in the table suggests, so I am backing them to spring a bit of a surprise.”

Lawro’s prediction: 1-0
