Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is understood to still be demanding that West Ham pay Emmanuel Adebayor’s full £100,000 a week wage bill if he’s to join the Hammers.
And unless he changes his position – as the game of brinkmanship goes on – there will be no deal for the striker.
The White Hart Lane chairman is living up to his reputation of being a very difficult man to do business with given that he is desperate to be free of the player yet currently be unwilling to subsidise the deal in any way.
Adebayor was unavailable yesterday amid reports that he was set to take an Irons medical and ClaretandHugh understands the deal remains very much in the balance.
Should it be hammered out then the medical will go ahead on Sunday but we were told exclusively that talks are still continuing with David Sullivan and Karren Brady involved.
David Gold has dropped a hint on Twitter that maybe the Irons will stick with what they have got because whilst admitting he expects new signings before the window closes adds: “I’m also expecting Carroll and Zarate to be back soon. dg”
well now Mr Gold as said dont need a striker il go to bed now & wake up on Wednesday I might be suprised but won’t lose sleep over it
Hear we go again another one within 3 hours of signing….got to laugh really, but, I never wanted an ex Spud anyway. AC got it right.
Ah good ol’ Levy. The biannual Ade transfer pantomime reaches its inevitable conclusion again and status quo is restored.
Looks like our two aren’t the only utter lemons in the prem owners club. Bitter Bitter Levy.
Adebayor is no better than Boomerang Cole, and has most likely forgotten how to play football by now.Adebayor belongs in Usa/China football leagues.
We will stick with what we have 1 Forward and I lot wishful thinking,
If Carroll farts and breaks his neck or Valencia take all year to get fit,we are left with Zarate and Sakho who have both had injuries in the last 2 weeks,
But hay ho Collins could move to CF and end up another Sutton ( don’t think so )
jelivic and Carlton
Well if Adebayor really wanted to play football in London again, he could always take a pay cut and not insist on receiving the obscene £100K/week couldn’t he.
Do not comprehend how we have allowed ourselves to be down to the wire AGAIN on strikers but then it wouldn’t be West ham would it!!
Screw this deal, aint worth dealing with that ****er Levy, aint worth having that half-hearted ****er Adebayor at the club either.
Nicely put Bob and accurate.Thanks
Amen
I am sure this is a case of the David’s winding Levy up over the January window, I would be very surprised if we signed him… who knows though with the bargain basement options currently being linked with the club
Hope Levy gets stuck with his wages for the year,
The player is not the problem just like Song the money is more important than playing,
Hang on a minute bubs,if the money was the motivation for Song he could have just sat on his arse in Barcelona all last season,he had a contract,he didnt need to come to us.He did because he wanted to play football!
