Liverpool linked with Oxford

|

The Daily Mirror say today “The Merseysiders failed with an ambitious attempt to snatch the 17-year-old away from the Hammers last summer before he had even made his senior debut. But they are back in the hunt after being made aware that Oxford is available for around £10million after rejecting West Ham’s offer of a new contract. The Reds face stiff competition from both Manchester clubs. But Jurgen Klopp is hoping that his reputation for putting his trust in young players will persuade Oxford to opt for Anfield.”

Oxford has already taken to social media twice this month to laugh at rumours linking him with £40,000 per week pay demands and an exit from West Ham calling one report in the Sun, fake!

17 year old Oxford is thought to earn around £7,000 per week on his current two year contract and his advisors are thought to be negotiating hard for a new deal around £20,000 per week but there is no rush to conclude negotiations.

Let’s get three things clear  1) He signed a new two year contract with the Hammers on his seventeenth birthday (16th December 2015) the maximum allowed for a 17 year old. 2) He can not sign a new contract with West Ham until his 18th birthday which is in six months time. 3) Despite continuous media speculation about the youngster, Claret and Hugh’s top source says: “There have been no inquiries from anywhere”

Lazy journos again I guess, or perhaps it is a new infrastructure project linking Oxford to Liverpool and Manchester and other northern cities
