Lowdown on our next Europa Cup opponents

_birkirkara-fc-7West Ham’s next Europa League opponents Birkirkara FC is a  club based in the largest town on the island of Malta.

It was formed in 1950, following the amalgamation of Birkirkara United and Birkirkara Celtic.

The club currently plays in the Maltese Premier League which it has won on four occasions, most recently in the 2012-13 season.

They have also been club has been involved in the qualifying stages of the competition for the last three season.

But the team has only managed to reach the second qualifying round once  in the previous three attempts until this season.

vsSliemaThat was in 2013-14 when they went out 0-2 on aggregate to Maribor.

The stadium has a capacity of 2,500 but in reality there should be little trouble for the Irons in reaching the next round
