Macca to get wish but new left back a top priority

|

MaccaGeorge McCartney’s hopes of landing a new Hammers deal have risen and the Irishman now looks booked for another season at the club – at least.

The left back recently made it clear that he was hoping to receive an offer from the club and Claretand Hugh learned exclusively this afternoon that one is set to be put before the defender.

With his contract due to run out this summer there had been suggestions that the 32 year old would be allowed to move on following the arrival on loan of Pablo Armero.

But a source told us today that the Colombian had not over-impressed even before even before conceding the penalty which gave Crystal Palace a shock victory last weekend.

However, he stressed that although Macca is likely to get a new offer, a left back is very high on the list of players required for the new season  along with a striker and defender.

Speaking to ClaretandHugh exclusively he said: “George is almost certain to receive an offer although it will probably be lower than he’s on at the moment.

“A left back is high on the agenda and of course it’s clear we need a striker but the club is ready to spend whatever is needed this summer.”
