Major Monday mission for new recruitment chief

|

Rob Newman

West Ham’s new head of recruitment Rob Newman starts work with the club on Monday and will be given a priority job to attack the minute he arrives.

David Moyes spent all summer attempting to find a striker to suit his style of play and eventually, being unable to find the right man, opted  for an  attacking midfield option in the shape of Nikola Vlasic.

Moyes looked at numerous striker options with Tammy Abraham and Adam Armstrong two of the most regularly mentioned.

They fell through for a variety of reasons – including either cost or that top strikers were unhappy at playing second fiddle to Mikey Antonio.

However, the manager knows that a new striker to compete with 31 year old Mikey  is of paramount importance along with a left back.

Newman has now completed his gardening leave at Manchester City and will arrive presumably with names in  his head to put before the manager,

And such has been his success at City we have to be hopeful by January he will be in a position to bring in the target he and Moyes identify for the job.
