Roger East will be the referee for the FA Cup quarter-final replay between West Ham and Manchester United on Wednesday evening at the Boleyn Ground.
After several miscarriages of justice from Craig Pawson, Darren Cann, Mark Clattenburg and Robert Madley all eyes will be on Mr East under the Boleyn lights midweek hoping he will not put a foot wrong.
His most famous clanger came in February last year when he sent off Wes Brown instead of John O’Shea at Old Trafford in a case of mistaken identity.
Martin Atkinson refereed the first quarter-final at Old Trafford and again the Hammers again came off worst with two crucial decisions going against them. Atkinson rejected appeals for a penalty following a Marcos Rojo challenge on Payet, before failing to spot a push on goalkeeper Darren Randolph in the build-up to Martial’s goal. Many commentators believed he got those two calls wrong and we should have already booked our place at Wembley in the semi-final against Everton. Let’s hope Thursday’s headlines are not filled with the exploits of the men in the black and West Ham can go through on merit.
Don’t hold you’re breath people ?
I’m convinced there will be controversy !
A young dive , 3 yards outside the box ,PENALTY !!!!!
Smalling using his normal WWF tactics in the box ? NO PENALTY !!!!
five games on the bounce in particular makes me sceptical of the outcome !
Its up to us on the night to be bigger than my worries ! I hope the lads smash em !!
Must play like second half on Saturday , stop martial and you stop the threat by 50% .
We need a good first half for a change , we take to long to get going .
They say that you make your own luck in life, but I am starting to wonder what the hell did we do to deserve this?
as you saw at the weekend – a few dodgy decisions, but we hit back right afterwards. shame about the boots up on Carroll – that was a sending off!! would have changed the game I believe.
Tiredness cost us the game. you can see how shattered Antonio was, just before they got the last goal.
I hope that the guys recover enough to put MANU to the sword.
