Joao Mario gives a thumbs up sign to reporters as he completed his medical for his West Ham loan yesterday.
The Inter Milan midfielder is expected to be officially announced today and could be available for selection for Saturday as the Hammers travel to Wigan is his registration is processed before midday. However, the likelihood is he will not be risked for the FA Cup and his debut is more likely to be Tuesday night as West Ham take on Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.
David Moyes said yesterday “My biggest concern is not him as a footballer but getting used to the Premier League, the speed and competitiveness compared to Italy or Portugal, his ability as a footballer is not in question, he’s proved it, and I just hope he can hit the ground running. That’s my only concern.”
West Ham has invested close £4m in this loan and will be expecting to see a return on their investment.
the speed and competitiveness compared to Italy or Portugal
always a problem with foreign players, except for people like Payet.
Signing Payet was like signing Messi for us, world class players don’t seem to have the same issues as mere mortals do they ? 🙂
Let’s hope Joao Mario becomes one of those for us, Marko Arnautovic is certainly looking the part, Lanzini is looking the part if Joao MArio lives upto billing and we can create a platform for Hernandez to shine could be a great end of season for us COYI !!!
PS H580 would also like Dendoncker to join, not sure we will get that, his club seem to prefer to use him as a cb.
I’m as happy as a pig in do do at this signing. I reckon he’ll need a few games to get up to speed but his passing skills will be great for the forwards. Would
Love to see Dendonker join isn too. COYI.
