Martinez given extra time

|

Toni Martinez has been given extra time off after the Spanish League finished in mid-June.  The Academy striker has been on a season-long loan at Real Valladolid in the Spanish second tier who last game of the season was played on 16th June. Martinez have been given extra time off and is scheduled to return to West Ham for his pre-season training in mid-July.

The striker has been spending time in Mexico on holiday with his girlfriend after a frustrating season which saw him make just nine appearances mostly as a substitute for limited time on the pitch.

The 21-year-old who joined from Villareal in 2016 for a fee which rose to £2.7m will be hoping he gets his chance to impress new manager Manuel Pellegrini but there are fears time is running out for him to show he has what it takes to make the jump to the first team and could be sold to a Spanish club if he finds he is surplus to requirements.
