West Ham will consider offers for Arthur Masuaku in the summer should they be in the region of £10 million.
The left sided defender/midfielder ( make your own choice) has disappointed in a big way with his defensive duties and the Hammers are ready to cash in if they get the chance.
With Aaron Cresswell now back to his best the manager looks certain to keep him in place with Masuaku looking booked for nothing other than a reluctant back-up role.
However, for clubs looking at an out and out left sided midfielder Masuaku looks worth all of £10 million on present prices.
The boss will want to strengthen on that side of the pitch and another right back looks likely to arrive as he looks to strengthen.
However, with the likes of Sanchez, Yarmolenko, Lanzini, and perhaps Reid available in pre-season we will be looking a lot stronger.
And after last season’s £100 million plus spend the club will hope that any further resources can be raised by selling and Masuaku is one who will be on the list.
The club will also be hoping that fees are offered for on loan players Jordan Hugill and Edmilson Fernandes
Surely there will be some kind of cash budget too in addition to player sales? I get that we spent close to £100m last summer but was that the next three year’s money in advance then?
Only £10mil for Masuaku…??? For any team playing 3 at the back, he would be a steal….
I’d expect he make a decent bargaining chip for a new striker…
Spot on , Hugh . A Championship side looks the most likely to want him though .
Can or should we try and get Tompkins back .? . Reckon we’ve missed him tbh .
Can’t remember what we paid, but I’d take £8m. He isn’t good enough to keep as a squad player – far too error prone.
I feel sorry for Arthur. As a left winger he’s excellent; strong and fast. Though Cress has the ability to cover LB as well as going forward, if he’s injured we’re stuffed and I’d rather we had two players on the flanks so the defence was always in place.
Think Tompkins would be a decent back up but not good enough to start. Also, he will be 30 in March. He will not be a first choice pick and that’s why he left in the first place.
Sell him and get a proper younger left back most of our conceded goals come from our left side which shows we need a tall young strong quick defender and another centre back a defensive mid and two top strikers. Arnie chich and Perez all moving on Reid possibly too and another 80plus mill to go with the sales and saving 100g a week with Carroll we should be finishing off pelle restructuring to his way of playing .
