Michail: “We’re doing it for the fans”

|

Michail Antonio has never been a shrinking violet when he has something on his mind.

And he took no time at all after the Spurs game to address the little matter of going on holiday.

Paul Merson and other OTT critics decided the Irons had got the flip flops on after Everton but the games since couldn’t have proved them more wrong.

And Michail was more than happy to tell them so after his goal gave the Hammers faithful very convincing bragging rights over the old enemy.

It was his pace and power that had the Spurs at sizes and sevens but his goal was as cool as it gets and right out of the top drawer as he continued to demonstrate that he has a serious future at the club.

He most definitely had his down times but against both Spurs and Leicester his goals and general performance show he’s bang on his way back.

And afterwards he made it very clear that the team is playing very much with the fans in mind telling www.whufc.com: “We’ve shown in the last two games that we aren’t on holiday yet.

“We’re playing good football, attacking football, but the last two results maybe didn’t show that. Against Tottenham, we’ve managed to get the victory though.

“People say we’re safe and we can go on holiday, but we’re playing for the fans. We want the fans to come and enjoy the games and finish the season well, which hopefully helps us to start next season well too.”

“I just like putting myself in history!” he laughed about his goal. “It just happens this way for me and I’m just buzzing to score memorable goals. Hopefully, there are more to come.

“Playing Tottenham is normally a special day anyway but to be the first team to come here and win, and be the first away player to score here, is just amazing.”
