Midfielder close to Irons deal

|

Samir Nasri is this morning reported as being close to landing a deal with the Irons.

The 31 year old has been training with the squad in a bid to land a six month contract and if accurate it seems he has made great progress.

For just a couple of weeks ago another report suggested he was a long way from fitness and need to shed several kilos.

However The Mail says that following an extended since Manuel Pellegrini identified his former midfielder as a player he definitely wanted the player Nasri has impressed in training

Nasri is banned from playing until the end of December but West Ham are working on a deal for him to join as soon as the transfer window opens on 1 January.

Pellegrini has been determined to bring in Nasri and, with his love of ‘technical’ players well known that is no surprise. It means that he now has two midfielders of that type in the squad – Wilshere and Nasri himself.

It will be interesting to see which of the two – when fit he goes for – and our bet would be the former Manchester City man.

Pelle knows his game inside out and was a key member of his City squad when the Chilean won the Premier League. If Nasri can recapture that sort of form he will be a key player over the last half of the season as the Irons look to find their way into the top ten.

We understand that revised terms will be on offer rather than the £80k a week which was reported with much of the deal being based on appearances with a basic wage of around £40-£45k being agreed.

Hopefully we have an option on extending if he takes to us, certainly interested to see what he can do, Nasri is definitely a midfielder that will make those runs in behind none of our current crop seem keen to make.
