West Ham‘s James Ward-Prowse is known for his pinpoint free kicks and corners, but there’s more to his game than meets the eye.

While Ward-Prowse recently scored directly from a corner, his most impressive contribution this season might be surprising to West Ham fans. He’s currently topping the Premier League charts for total distance covered!

At nearly 30, some might expect Ward-Prowse’s peak athleticism to be behind him. However, statistics firm Opta reveals he’s covered more ground than any other player in the league this season.

Ward-Prowse has clocked a staggering 367.2 kilometers this season, a full 12 kilometers more than his closest competitor, Burnley’s Sander Berge. On average, he runs an impressive 10.73 kilometers per 90 minutes.

Opta takes the comparison a step further, stating that Ward-Prowse has essentially run the equivalent of 8.26 marathons in Premier League games this season!

This highlights Ward-Prowse’s tireless work ethic and commitment beyond his dead-ball expertise. He’s with out doubt a valuable asset to the Irons for his all-around contribution on the pitch.
