Barry Silkman, a football agent with close ties to West Ham chairman David Sullivan, surprisingly criticised the London Stadium’s seating during a recent court case.
Silkman was a witness in the legal battle between agent Saif Arubie and West Ham regarding the transfer of Kurt Zouma. During his testimony, he took a swipe at the stadium’s design.
Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law reported on Silkman’s comments, specifically his remark about the high seat prices and the poor view from certain sections. Silkman quipped that fans in the back “need binoculars to watch” the game.
West Ham relocated from their beloved Upton Park in 2016 to the London Stadium, primarily due to the latter’s larger capacity. While the new stadium offers more space, it lacks the intimacy and atmosphere of Upton Park.
Despite initial struggles to adapt, West Ham fans have gradually begun to embrace the London Stadium under manager David Moyes’ leadership.
However, Silkman’s comments highlight a lingering issue: the significant distance between some seats and the pitch. His words likely resonate with many West Ham supporters who share his frustration.
