Moyes gives his highs and lows v Silkeborg

|

David Moyes was justifiably pleased to have gone through to the last 16 of the Conference last night but remains concerned at the lack of goals.

Once again the Hammers were wasteful in front of goal and the manager made it clear that we simply aren’t getting what he calls “the final bit” right.

He’s not wrong despite the team being on a decent run and the real result is that we will now avoid the round of 32 and won’t be involved again until March.

That is going to make life so much easier as we look to progress up the Premier League and we only find ourselves looking towards a game at Old Trafford against an improved Manchester United.

Moyes was keen to give his verdict on the match against Silkeborg after the game ahead of a game which will demand much more from the squad.

Taling at the post match presser he said: “We’ve had a couple of draws and three defeats, so we’re on a pretty good run at the moment.

Tonight was another pretty good performance but I’d still say we’re still needing the final bit to be a little bit better, to make my job feel a bit easier on the touchline. It would make the team feel a bit easier too, if we can get a couple more goals.

I thought we should have been in front before we got the penalty. I thought we did a lot of good things with the ball and we’re improving. But, again, it’s the final bit.

We couldn’t make the final pass or the final cutback or the final cross, or when we did do it we didn’t get the finish correct.

Those bits were the disappointing bits for me but there is no real disappointment, because we’ve won the group – won five out of five – and we’re really pleased with what this group of players has done.
