Moyes: ” I always believed I could do the job”

|

David Moyes insists he doesn’t think he has proved anyone wrong during his second time around at the club.

After just a handful of games he is making no judgement on himself after leading the team to a series of unexpected results.

And speaking to reporters earlier today the manager said  “I always believed that I could do the job and given the right opportunity and right club I could do a really good job.

It is a difficult thing to ask for time. Quite often when maybe it has looked as though it has been tough I have not been given time.”

I don’t see how you can do that when you don’t have big chunks of cash and if you are a club trying to build it takes time. Obviously, it is not that sexy to say that.

It is media-driven and supporters means that they want things more quickly. That is when you need good owners and I had great owners in Bill Kenwright and Sir Philip Carter who were really supportive and saw the vision of what we wanted to do. They stuck with it when times were hard and I hope they got their rewards.”

“I always go about my work the best way I possibly can. I always try and work hard, make sure my training is good, try and make sure that I’m prepared for the teams, try and pick what I feel will give us the best chance of winning.

So I don’t think I’m doing anything different to what I’ve done in the past. What I need is players to help us win and I have a group of players at the moment that have a really good team spirit.

The players have performed well and they feel they can grow in confidence, so we hope we can continue that.”

If you look at Moyes historically he had a model (not system) quite similar to Allardyce where he would beat all the teams his teams should beat but was far less successful against the big clubs. At West Ham he seems to get good results against the big clubs, what I hope to see this season is whether he can also maintain that level against the teams around and below us qualitywise. We have beaten Wolves thats a good start but then we lost to Newcastle who are not very good, so am genuinely hoping that we will perform well against Fulham and win all of the November games. If he can do that we will be around the area where Wolves are which is top 8 tbh anywhere in the top 10 would be good this season COYI !!!
