Moyes’ injury update

|

David Moyes has ruled out Maxwel Cornet ahead of this weekend’s clash with Fulham.

The former Burnley star came into the club in the summer transfer window.

He sustained a calf injury in the clash with Wolves, however, and subsequently missed the encounter against Anderlecht in midweek, as the Irons won 1-0 thanks to Gianluca Scamacca’s goal.

Cornet has made nine appearances for the Irons in total, failing to score a goal – after that perfectly legitimate Chelsea goal was ruled out – but laying on five assists in all competitions.

And Moyes admits that he will be missing from the London derby this weekend when the Hammers welcome the Cottagers to the London Stadium, although he is hopeful that there will be no other injury absentees.

Speaking to reporters, as per the club’s website, Moyes said: “Maxwel will not be available for the game. He’s got a small calf strain. I don’t think it’s as bad as we first feared, but it will keep him out for a few days.

“Elsewhere, we’ve got a few knocks and niggles but hopefully we’ll be okay by the time we get to Sunday’s game.”

Fulham have been in decent form this season and find themselves eighth in the league, having won three of their eight games, drawing two.
