Moyes makes big selection gamble

As Sean has just mentioned to me David Moyes will be hailed as either very brave or very stupid for playing Arthur Masuaku at City this afternoon.

Whether he has decided to play five at the back or Arthur in front of Cress remains to be seen but it’s a gamble.

Without Oggy he has only Cress as a genuinely left sided player so maybe Arthur is in to help the attacking impetus which the injured central defender often starts.

But it’s a gamble and one thing is for sure – Jarrod Bowen will probably be feeling pretty hard done by to be missing out.

As big a gamble for my money is the decision to play Benrahma rather than Lanzini who has been looking more and more effective of late.

The issue with Benny is that if he has a top 90 minutes he can be a game changer but can also look less than average on occasions.

Ben Johnson back for Coufal – a position unheard of 6 months ago – is ok with me but I’d have preferred Diop at central defence rather than Dawson.

Fingers crossed!
