David Moyes has admitted he and the backroom team are pushing hard for Aaron Cresswell to make it into tomorrow evening’s match against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Cress has been absent since making a clearance on the goal line against Manchester City before crashing into an upright and has always thought likely to be ready for tomorrow’s game
And whilst offering no certainties the manager seemed hopeful the 31 year old could be back in action after his break.
The blow to Cresswell’s back saw the No3 substituted on that occasion, but Moyes believes the player, who resumed light training a fortnight ago, could be edging closer to a return.
With no Ben Johnson available to cover on that side as he recovers from his own soft tissue problem it would be a big boost.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, manager Moyes confirmed: “I think we’ve got some people who have got injuries.
“We’re hoping Aaron’s got a chance, and we’re still trying to push him hard to be ready for the game.”
With multiple Premier League fixtures postponed in recent days, having been impacted by the global pandemic, Moyes took the opportunity to confirm that his squad, in that respect, are currently presenting a clean bill of health.
The manager added: “At the moment, touch wood, we have no COVID in the camp, but I’ve got to say it’s really bad that it seems to be going through football clubs really quickly. At this present time, we’re clear.
