Moyes praise for Irons duo as he eyes window

|

David Moyes has held up two players as his ideal as he heads towards the January window.

And he appears to believe that despite the many doubts of some the board will back him if he wants a particular player next month.

He wants more- or at least one if several are impossible – of the same character and calibew as our two Czech boys Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek.

There are not many who would disagree that the right back and defensive midfielder aren’t among the very best signings we have made in several years.

And the manager has made it clear speaking to the London Evening Standard that he wants another one or two like them.

At around £25 million for the two of them they represent the improvement in scouting which the manager is very keen to make sure remains in place.

Speaking at https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/david-moyes-column-west-ham-fc-news-a-year-on-b418693.html Moyes enthused of the pair: They’ve come in and brightened up the whole place with their attitude and their energy.

Neither has a big ego, they train the same every day, they’re both down-to-earth boys and thrilled to be at West Ham and playing in the Premier League.

We are trying to improve recruitment at the club. You won’t get all your signings right and the next challenge is to bring in more players with similar attitudes to those two — hunger, mentality and desire.

The next transfer window opens on January 4 and, while I don’t anticipate us doing too much, if there was an opportunity to sign a player we really need and the price was right, I am sure the owners would support me.

I am, though, incredibly mindful of the financial implications of the virus which are affecting all clubs.

As regards the immediate future and where we are now compared to a year ago, I want to make sure I don’t promise the fans something which I am unable to fulfil.”
