Moyes proving his critics wrong

|

When David Moyes rejoined West Ham many critics gave him a lot of grief over his comment ‘That’s what I do I win’

At his press conference after his appointment as West Ham manager for the second time he said:

“They are getting a very experienced Premier League manager,”

“I think there’s only two or three managers with a better Premier League win record. That’s what I do, I win.

“I’m here to get West Ham wins and get them away from the bottom three.”

“This time, I’m going to give them no chance but to extend me. There is a clause in my contract to extend the deal. I’m going to make it impossible that that clause can’t be activated. It’s up to the players to make sure of that now.”

On Monday evening Moyes recorded his third back to back win as the Hammers moved up to a top-six place in fifth position in the top-flight league.

A win this weekend at the London Stadium against Manchester United could put West Ham third in the Premier League.

Asked today whether he had proved his critics wrong the manager said “I don’t think I had to answer critics but as a football manager, you have to prove yourself. I have had nearly 1,000 games as a manager and a level of longevity. To get that amount of games, I must be doing something right.”

Speaking at his virtual pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon the Gaffer added “I take satisfaction with the league position. Sometimes I haven’t started seasons well but I think for West Ham to get off to a good start, not many people were expecting that. We have got a hungry group of players, keen to improve. I want to get back to the values of the club but we have some work to do before we get there”
