Moyes reveals if Bowen will play in second leg

|

David Moyes admits he remains unsure if Jarrod Bowen will be fit to play against Sevilla in the Europa League round of 16 second leg.

The ex-Hull winger missed the encounter against the Spanish club on Thursday, as Munir’s goal gave the Spanish club a 1-0 win to take into the second leg in east London.

It means the Hammers will have to score twice to win at the London Stadium, although there remains a hope that Bowen will be fit to play against the Liga club.

He limped out of the weekend clash with Liverpool and Moyes admits that he is completely in the dark over whether or not he will be fit to face Sevilla next week.

Speaking to reporters, as per Football.London, he said: “I have no idea at the moment. We are still trying to clear up exactly the injury, in all the scans and information we have it does not look too bad but his action coming off the pitch at Anfield made it look more serious than we thought.

“And that has not added up. Since then Jarrod is slightly improving but not as fast as we hoped, we did not think it was anything serious. So we are still trying to get to the bottom of it. Maybe tomorrow we get back and Jarrod is okay, it could just be one of those things.”

Bowen has been electric for the Hammers all season, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 39 games in all competitions thus far this season for Moyes’ men.
