New contract for Zouma
A football website has made a sensational claim by insisting that David Moyes is pressing for Kurt Zouma to be awarded a new contract. Caught Offside has reported that Moyes is ‘determined’ to force through a new deal for his French captain.
It’s hard to imagine there’s any truth in the rumour given the manager’s perilous contractual situation. Moyes stated only last week that he was unsure whether or not he’d sign a new deal when his contract expires at the end of the season.

But even if the manager were to sign a new deal, it’s a big leap to suggest that Zouma deserves one. To put it bluntly, Zouma is broken, and his performances are deteriorating. Clearly, his knee injuries have gotten the better of him, and he’s struggling to manoeuvre himself around a football pitch.
There has been talk of interest in the player from Saudi Arabia, but it’s unlikely that Zouma would pass a medical. Perhaps he might get a deal on a pay-as-you-play basis, but certainly not on his current wage.
I think this story is a case of nothing to see here, and I’d be very surprised if Dinos Mavropanos & Nayef Aguerd weren’t the Hammers’ first-choice defensive pairing by the end of the season.
My thoughts entirely. Just goes to show that Moyes has an eyesight problem !
The problem at the back is NOT Aguerd; it is Zouma – he simply is not mobile enough – late arriving in situations and very poor st passing.
