New manager appointment could lead to player reunion

|

If Manuel Pellegrini is appointed as West Ham manager next week his first signing could well be his old player Yaya Toure.  The Chilean manager is expected to land in London on Monday for talks with the Hammers with a possible announcement on or before Wednesday.

Toure previously put his stamp on Man City’s 2013/14 season, scoring 20 Premier League goals and providing nine assists from midfield under Pellegrini.

Yaya Toure has said he will turn down lucrative offers from China and the Middle East to continue playing for less money in the Premier League.

In the last two years, Toure has rejected a contract worth £520,000-a-week with Jiangsu Suning and turned down another Chinese Super League club offering £430,000-a-week preferring to keep his family in the UK.

‘I want to stay in England, continue to play and continue to enjoy. I have maybe one or two years more to play. To go to China or Abu Dhabi, it looks for myself to get more money.’ Said Toure after his final game for City after eight years at the club.

Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk says that his man is so confident of his ability that he will offer his new club a refund of his wages if they aren’t happy with his performances saying “Yaya is fit and desperate to prove he’s still the best central midfielder in the Premier League,”

“He’s happy to accept a one-year deal to stay in England. And if his club are not satisfied with his performances, he will pay back half his wages, or the club can cancel his contract immediately, with no compensation.”

Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been linked with the 35-year-old free agent but linking up with Pellegrini again might be a big attraction.

    Please, NO!
Hiring 35 year olds on astronomic wages is not a way to build a future for the club. Given our financial constraints we should only sign players who will have a sell on value or we doom ourselves.

Would be happy fo him to play half a game. Bags of class – no pace. If he has enough time in the ball, he could be a real asset, however….
