New report updates Hammers transfer moves

|

The Guardian is reporting that whilst Darren Randolph’s injury isn’t considered bad enough to stop his return to the Hammers the club is treading with caution on completing the deal.

And it adds that he could have to return to Middlesbrough for further rehabilitation ahead of a £4 million move to east London.

Randolph has made it clear he favours a reunion with West Ham, who are keen to sign a new No 2 goalkeeper.

They suffered when Fabianski was out with a hip injury earlier and with Roberto failing to impress the Spaniard fell below David Martin in the pecking order and is up for sale.

However, Martin was never see as anything other than a number three whose major responsibility was for training ground activities and the new manager feels that a fully experienced No 2 is required in the shape of Randolph if the deal can be completed.

Moyes is unlikely to make any moves for ‘marquee’ signings this month as January transfers rarely throw up top players who are usually involved in promotion – or indeed – relegation issues in some cases.

The Guardian add that attempts to bolster their midfield by signing Benfica’s Gedson Fernandes on an 18-month loan with an option to buy have stalled.

Moyes is claimed to hold a strong interest in Stoke’s Joe Allen, though an agreement over a fee for the Wales midfielder is some way off.

Stoke want around £12m for Allen, but West Ham aim to negotiate a lower price at around £8 million – similar to that paid for Robert Snodgrass under Slaven Bilic.

The Hammers are also understood to be in the market for a striker and will entertain bids for the likes of Albian Ajeti and Carlos Sanches.

  • Dusty Miller says:

We can write off any interest in Fernandes, Chelski and there bags of money have offered Benfica a better deal and being in London according to Sky transfer talk!!! I think he would have been ok? But one for the future, not a 2nd half season relegation scrap needed now. We need A tougher midfielder not a tippy tappy one at this time. And the foreign signing situation has to be addressed we need to ditch Roberto and Sanchez to make places available for the Norwegian player mentioned, not sure on the home grown players over 21 who goes and who can come???

You won’t be getting ajeti he is going to be a great centre half, you may see how good he is if you stay up, and we come up! Still he won’t be going to west ham you couldn’t afford him
        Martin from west brom

If we are going down the dads army route, we should go down loan route, batshuyai sturridge, all the old men on bonuses to keep us up, sort it out in the summer.

Got to sack off sanchez, wilshere, reid, yarmelenko, and stop dreaming we can attract anyone of top quality. They all use us to get the move they want, we are patsys

  • Ken says:

Typical West Ham promised “next level” by the Board and supposed to be in pole position then surprise surprise Everton or another Club beat us to it. We are no more ambitious than we always have been. Under 23’s shipped out on loan, I’d rather have them than Ajeti, Sanchez, Lanzini, Wilshere, Masuako and Roberto. Sell them and let’s see some real quality brought in.

Come on Moyes, you’ve started well and hushed all your detractors, don’t go and cock it up by signing Crap like allen

Moysie has made a great start but he will completely destroy all the good so far if he signs a very average midfielder in Allen. Noble is a similar player, why would you even think about signing him. I would prefer to make no signings than sign Allen. I think Moysie needs to look at the social media sites to realise how foolish this is, another Hugill. If he wants to keep his job then he needs to make good signings. I was not a fan of him coming back a second time, but I am prepared to admit when I am wrong and so far he has proved so. However the big concern for me is the players he is considering, Allen, Ndonzi, skillful but no pace or power. We have enough skill in the team what we need is players with power, pace and skill. Part of assessing a manager is the type of players he signs. I just hope he gets it right otherwise the fans will turn on him very quickly and that 18 month contract wont save him or the board.

Sander Berge: young, great passer, big physical presence…This is WHAT WE NEED, not poor old Joe Allen, though he’d go well with with Jack Wilshire and Sanchez….

  • mark wiggins says:

So here we go we offer peanuts and surprise it stalls . We will heat we tried couldn’t get it over the line and end up with crap Allen who we don’t need and will not be any value. Hughill anyone , Moyes first mistake and one of the boards many mistakes if that goes through IMO.

  • The Cat says:

Gedson Fernandes, I’m so not sure about him as I know SQUAT about him and have never seen him play……..as I guess is the case with many of our supporters. The difference is that £55M is a punt for Chelsea, whereas it is Big Money for us…. That’s the difference!
Whilst the media stir up a feeding frenzy amongst competing clubs, as it’s a win-win for them good, bad or indifferent! We have a battle ahead and we need players fit for purpose as we haven’t got a right to avoid relegation.
It’s fantastic if we get a Young player who meets All the criteria, but in this transfer window, that is going to be extremely difficult. The better players aren’t for sale and if you can shift them, it’s gonna be for Big bucks! My dad always told me that dreaming is good, but you cut your cloth to suit.
