No Irons pressure over new Reid deal

|

West Ham have not received a single offer for Winston Reid as negotiations continue on a new deal.

And the club will be in no hurry to make any improved offer whilst the player is not attracting offers from elsewhere.

Co owner David Sullivan has revealed the Kiwi has turned down the club’s latest offer but has made it clear that talks are continuing.

It seems at the moment, however, that Reid’s options involve accepting the deal the club has put on the table or letting his contract run down and leave on a free at the end of next season.

However, the club may now try to force his hand by making it clear the offer they have put to him will have to be accepted by the time the new season starts.

ClaretandHugh was told by a source close to the talks: “There is no pressure on the club to make silly offers because there hasn’t been a hint of interest from elsewhere so they are holding the whip hand.

“Winston’s options are limited at the moment so the club won’t be rushing the process.”

Yeah, got to agree with you mate.
With no offers pouring in it does seem like the press getting their nickers in a twist trying to make a story out of nothing! Again! (Ravel all over again anybody?).
Reid’s deal is coming to an end and he and the club are in talks over a new one! Not very sexy I know but probably nearer the mark as stories go!
