No surprise but some sympathy as Iron heads out

Albian Ajeti’s departure from West Ham  is possibly the least surprising thing that will happen in the current transfer window.

The misfit striker goes with a certain amount of sympathy from your truly because although he looked unlikely never to become a regular first teamer, he had little chance to prove he could.

He was bought by a manager who found he didn’t rate him and was given only the briefest of chances to show himself off to his successor.

There were of course the usual training ground rumours about ability and attitude – none of which we can confirm.

‘But what we do know is that he became the the Pellegrini equivalent to Jordan Hugill – the problem being that the Chilean manager had a few more than most in the area of poor signings. We won’t mention a certain goalkeeper but Carlos Sanchez perhaps is worthy of remembering.

There have been others but they have been mentioned more than enough times.

The fee for Ajeti  remains undisclosed but, given everything, reports of a loan with an option to buy for around £5 million is not bad for a guy who still has it all to prove although the Scottish Premier League is a little different to the Premier League.

With things as they are in the game that would be useful money as we head into what a will be financially difficult despite amid hopes that fans will be allowed back in on a reduced capacity basis from October onwards.
