With just 26 days before our first Europa League match on the 4th August at the former Olympic Stadium, work is continuing at pace to install the alternative wrap around the outside of the stadium before the first event of the summer which starts next weekend. Construction workers have been busy over the last few weeks installing a network of steele cables on which the fabric panels will be supported from.
Work will soon begin to hang the sixty eight fabric panels which are twelve metres in height on these cables followed by installation of a digital screens measuring a massive 83m by 12m.
The installation will surely mean the end of the long awaited saga when the naming rights partner will also be officially revealed. Planning application confirms the stadium naming partner will soon be displayed prominently on the wrap. ClaretandHugh understand that the stadium owners E20LLP have concluded a £6m a year deal with an Indian technology giant and car maker called the Mahindra Group to rename the stadium.
Excellent cheers Sean as working on 28 july but off on 4 Aug COYI
because there is no way the stadium can be converted by the 28th July for football mode. If the first leg is drawn at home we will ask for a switch to 4th August. Obviously there is a 50/50 chance we could be drawn away for the 28th July game.
The Paralympic games finish on Sunday 24th July and the conversion takes around 10 days which would be complete on the 3rd August
Why 4 Aug, the games are 28/07/16: Third qualifying round, first leg
04/08/16: Third qualifying round, second leg ??
