On-loan Iron has decision to make

|

New Fulham signing Alphonse Areola

Alphonse Areola had few opportunities to shine at Old Trafford on Saturday but one save in particular showed him to be a great shot stopper.

The big question now is whether he will remain at the Hammers after arriving on loan with an option for the club to make the desal permanent.

Lukasz Fabianski has signed a new deal with the club which may have put that in doubt although Areola at 28 may well feel it’s worth waiting another year to become Number One given he remains relatively young in goalkeeping terms..

He has done very little wrong in his various appearances this season and with Darren Randolph all but certain to be on his way his position behind Fab looks rock solid.

He was a 2018 FIFA World Cup winner and has made more than 250 career appearances for the likes of PSG and Real Madrid, winning four Ligue 1 and La Liga titles and lifting a succession of other trophies.

Whilst the two clubs have agreed a permanent option much will depend on the keeper himself who has a contract with PSG until 2023.
