Oxford signs for the Addicks

|

Oxford-604905Reece Oxford has agreed to join Championship side Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season according to Matt Law in the Daily Telegraph.

The 17-year-old made his Premier League debut in West Ham’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal on the opening day of the season aged 16.

That appearance made Oxford, who only lost possession once in the match, the second-youngest starter in Premier League history behind Jose Baxter.

But since then his first-team opportunities have been limited so it is claimed Oxford has decided to move to Charlton for six months to gather more first team experience.

The youngster has played for England at Under-16 and U17 level, and has attracted the interest of  a host of top clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Last week Peterborough owner and chairman, Darragh MacAnthony claimed he turned down the chance to sign Reece Oxford on loan. MacAnthony told Adrian Durham on Talksport “He is probably going to the Championship but he was offered to us first.”

I hope Oxford plays well and returns a better player for the experience. I also hope that Charlton get relegated because it was their green with envy fans who started this vendetta against West Ham moving to Stratford. I hope they sink into the abyss and we’ll have their future fans

Nothing to do with the club itself,in fact they washed their hands of the whole affair. The vendetta as you call it was instigated by the Charlton Supporters Trust, a completely seperate entity to the football club.

Apparently Riga has pulled the plug on it according to reports because he has no idea who Reece Oxford is…. what a way for Charlton to act if true, tell a kid he is on loan then have the manager block the move….

Hope it has collapsed because we need him on the bench this week with Ogbonna to cover the defenders, don’t want JOB getting injured doing up his boots before he can join the O,s
They already have Poyet back and the way their manager has been going he probably has not heard of Reece or Messi or Moore or Ronaldo or what a football looks like
I have a lot of friends that take disabled fans to Charlton and they are a good hearted club but just a few sad fans not the majority started this jealous based objection
Never mind it’s over now just a lot hot air now
