Payet or Di Canio? CandH FB members vote

|

payetarmsoutClaretandHugh has tonight asked the most difficult question possible of any Hammers fan, making it clear that any comments about it being too early to say will be treated as a cop out.

The question posed exclusively on the CandH Facebook forum @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/ was: Who’s the best – Paolo Di Canio or Dimi Payet?

An avalanche of responses came in within 20 minutes – here they are!

O Payet! Di Canio was good but when Payet has the ball you just hold your breath!

I think that Payet just nicks it. He has more pace than Di Canio did, digs in more tracking back and can take a wonderful set piece.

I know you will slate me for this. Payet is the new Di Canio lololol For now di Canio, but Payet will soon surpass him

O Payet
Payet, pure magic for the entire time that he is on the pitch

Payet. Di Canio was a legend and loved the club. But Payet is all that and more

O Paolo

O Payet is ‘different Gravy’ !!!

O Payet. You sit in the terrace and just watch on in awe while he makes world class players like Yaya Toure look like a Sunday League player. His work rate and passion to football, the club and the fans is breathtaking, and his set piece is simply outstanding.

O I’d say a front three of Di Canio and Payet playing behind Tevez but maybe I’m being greedy.
O Di Canio at the moment. But if Payet keeps going the way he is he will overtake him in 3 or 4 years time!!…

O Di Canio but Payet will join him as a Legend.
O Di Canio – for now. If Payet can keep this up for two or three years then he may surpass Paolo.

O Di Canio. He came to us because nobody else would touch him and became a legend. So many stand out moments his goal against Wimbledon in my eyes can’t be beaten. Still remember the sit in against Bradford too, so funny. Payet will become a legend but not at moment. That is as long as he stays and doesn’t get pushed into chasing the pound by a greedy agent

O Both!! But I think if Payet stays , he will become a Hammers legend. Absolute quality yesterday!! COYI!!
Still DiCanio for me. Dimi hasn’t had enough games yet

O Di Canio for me, showed season after season his class, skill and passion. Not saying that Payet won’t, but it’s Paolo edging it!!

Di Canio for now… and anyone saying different is under 30

O DiCanio was equally breathtaking in his first 15 games or so. When Dimi has a full season under his belt It’ll be a harder question, but for now it has to still be DiCanio

Payet
O Payet purely because he plays away games .

Loved Di Canio and will always be a legend but Dicks is my all time favourite as he turned up home & away – fit or not fit. Payet is a street footballer and has all the tricks and more but is more of a team player and hasn’t gone hiding in away games or miss the coach to get there. Payet will have to stay 3 -4 years otherwise we could have a Tevez scenario. Love watching Payet as he reminds me a bit of Maradona with his stocky build and ability to mug opposition players and pick passes without being as selfish. What a signing, what a player, a legend in the making!!

My favorites-dicks,tonka ray stewart, devonshire, brooking, and who could forget pop robson? There are players brooking, bonds, and dicks, moore to name a few that are uncomparable to anybody whoever pulls on a west ham shirt, therefore i never will cite one player as an all time favorite.

Payet has been here less than one season. Way to early to start comparing him with anyone, let alone Di Canio.

Ask again in 2 or 3 years time. Hopefully he will still be with us. For now, lets just enjoy the quality that he shows every game and what he brings to an already impressive squad.

Ask us again when Payet has been with us for 4+ years

Same as when Payet has been here and ignores people chasing him I will have a true picture,Di Canio played with so much flair but he did have Sinclair and Kanoute to bounce off and our defence took no prisoners,
To many good memories but Payet could get there,
My favourite will always be Sir Billy Bonds had a heart the size of the OS
