Pelle update on Chicharito

|

Manuel Pellegrini has given little away on whether Javier Hernandez will be involved in the squad for Saturday’s match against Bournemouth.

Having revealed that the striker had been in training only since Wednesday he left it at that giving no clue as to whether he would be involved or not.

Speculation surrounding a possible switch to Valencia may also be clouding the position although CandH understands that no further developments have taken place over the last 48 hours.

The position remains that whilst the Spanish club want him on loan the Hammers would only be interested in a permanent deal at £12 million.

Whether that affects his involvement on Saturday remains to be seen along with that of Marko Arnautovic who is also at the centre of transfer speculation.

The manager updated Chicharito’s position and his pre-match presser but our guess is that the Mexican will be involved in the 90 minutes at some point.

Pellegrini said: “Javier Hernandez has been working with the squad from Wednesday.

“Unfortunately for him, he has had two long injuries this season, of about five weeks each time, but he will continue to be an important player for us.

“The other injured players are continuing with their injuries, and all the others are continuing to be fit.”

I think either Hernandez or Marko will leave in addition to Perez.

I now see the rest of this season as a chance for Chicherito and Perez to prove their worth, otherwise I would offload them both in the summer. Although personally I would sell Chicherito now in this window to get his huge wages off the books and bring in one of the young promising strikers we are supposed to be considering. We know it can take time for players to bed in and adjust to the premier league. For that reason I think the second half of this season would be a great opportunity to try and bed in a new striker while there is less pressure on them, no worry of relegation etc.
