Pellegrini answers Andy Carroll rumours

|

Manuel Pellegrini has dismissed Andy Carroll rumours linking him with a move away from West Ham this winter.

Carroll was linked to an unlikely move to Spurs earlier this week by a red-topped tabloid. Pellegrini confirmed he didn’t think Andy Carroll before the end of the season when his current contract expires.

Pellegrini told reporters at the lunchtime press conference Rush Green “He was out for a long time with an injury, but now he is working every day with the squad and I think his performances are improving with every game. I don’t think Andy will leave the Club before the end of the season.”

Carroll has put his nine-bedroom mansion in Chigwell up for sale this week and is rumoured to be considering a move to the US and MLS in the summer when his contract with the Hammers ends. The 30-year-old joined West Ham from Liverpool in 2012 making the move permanent in 2013 for a transfer fee worth £17m.

The only positive about AC is he actually wants to play for us the negatives are he will never be the player he was. Yes he is just back from yet another injury but its clear he cant keep up with play .jump properly. fit into the system we want to play or appears score from a yard out !!
Shame for us shame for him but has to be gone in the summer

The difference with previous come backs is that there would always be some spark, especially after 3-4 games. A goal, an action, and the impression that defenses were scared of him. Not this time. He doesn’t seem to be able to get that “something special” out of him, and he doesn’t impress opponents at all. Whatever the reason is, as time passes, it becomes more obvious he isn’t the player he should (could) have been, and that the level is too high for him now. Either absolutely (can’t cut it) or relatively (the style of play and surrounding players do not fit him).

Sad to see that he has not had the career he could (should) have had, but the inevitable outcome seems to be very very close now…

Probably the only striker we’ve got who actually wants to play for us. Be a real shame if he’s forced out before he gets a chance to prove if he can return to form or not.

If Andy Carroll had respect for the club/fans/colleagues, he would play at West Ham next season for nothing, giving back some of the £millions he has made out of his 6 year, 120 game career in Claret & Blue…….
