Pep praise for Pelle and Hammers fans

|

Pep Guardiola is not reputed for handing out huge accolades to other managers as Jose Mourinho may be ready to testify but he is clearly happy to make an exception in the case of Manuel Pellegrini.

The Spaniard is probably the world’s top boss right now so to hear him pouring praise on our Chilean manager is encouraging to put it mildly.

He had no hesitation is using his presser ahead of the match today to make it clear that he held Pelle in the highest regard and was more than happy to discuss his input to Manchester City prior to his own arrival.

It’s probably true to say that our manager has found the West Ham job is as tough  as he has ever had given early results, inconsistent form and the necessity to change players’ mindsets at the club.

And this afternoon – on the back of three unbeaten games – he can show how much progress he is making at the London Stadium despite those  early results.

Guardiola meanwhile says: “He (Pellegrini) put this team (City) on another level. The way they played and created a style was impressive. He went to Real Madrid and made 96 points. It was good.

“Here he won the league and helped this club be where we are right now.He will do well at West Ham where there are many, many good supporters.”

The comments are in stark contrast to Guardiola’s public criticism of his own fans.

He has questioned City’s support in the past and aimed a dig at them over their refusal to embrace the Champions League (The Mirror).
