Police expected inside stadium for Chelsea

|

hampshire-police-airwave-usersA strong police presence should be inside the London Stadium for the EFL fourth round clash against Chelsea in October.

The Metropolitan Police cannot currently deploy officers inside the stadium to monitor match-day safety because it does not have the radio system used by emergency services.

But the London Evening Standard reports that stadium owners E20 expects the radio technology to be installed in time for the Chelsea game on October 25 or 26. That would allow the Metropolitan Police to have officers on patrol inside the stadium for the London derby.

Their report says: “If the technology is not fully installed by then, the stadium operator can make temporary measures to ensure the radio system is fully operational for the game.
