Poll: Do you agree with the introduction of VAR?

|

West Ham supporters experienced their first taste of Premier League VAR yesterday at the London Stadium and the technology came under a fair amount of criticism.

In this evening’s Claret and Hugh poll we ask whether you agree with the introduction of VARĀ  to the Premier League this season or not?

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

100% yes for me, we play 38 away games in the eyes of referees so whatever the downside it is negated by more points and a fairer league position in may.

  • Dom says:

Absolutely not. The flow and excitement of the game are more important to me than a couple of incorrect decisions. VAR will turn the game in to American football where the game stops every 2 minutes and they all have a discussion. Boring.

  • Dave says:

It will kill the game, in two years it will be abandoned.

  • matty53 says:

A bit early to say after one game but dom is probably correct the game felt different on saturday
And it will definitely turn to rat s–t when somebody thinks its a good idea to sponser it

  • Spotted Dog says:

VAR is a good thing, essential for the big ‘calls’ that affect a result. But we need to adjust the ‘wiggle room’ refs use. The camera doesn’t make the decisions; it just supplies the evidence and the ref has no lattitude when the whole ground is watching the screen instead of waiting for MOTD.

  • Hammer_Rite says:

All these people moaning about var are probably the same people moaning when we played liverpool at home and man utd at old trafford saying we were robbed because the officials got it badly wrong,.

    • Dom says:

I suspect we all were moaning after that decision but do the positives outweigh the negatives? I don’t think so, but if at the end of the season we’re top 6 directly because of VAR, maybe I’ll think differently, but Nuno and Pep summed it up pretty well, it’s a passion killer and people cheering for a non goal is wrong and a bit weird.

Personally I don’t think VAR will have any effect on where we finish. Everybody saying we’ll be 15 points better off. I can’t see it.
